Join UChicago Medicine, as an Assistant Patient Care Manager in the Comer Emergency Department.
The Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) will be responsible and accountable for over-seeing the operations and patient flow of a designated Care Center on her / his respective shift.
Duties include completing daily or shift specific quality audits and Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) boards, facilitate daily huddles with staff, and directing delivery of quality, patient-centered care in a financially responsible manner.
This is in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager (PCM). In the absence of the PCM, the APCM assumes responsibility for the unit.
APCM supports PCM with 24 / 7 coverage of the unit.
The Assistant Patient Care Manager (RN) will be a crucial part of the Comer ED. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital provides immediate, highly specialized pediatric emergency services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The state-of-the-art pediatric emergency facility is the newest in Chicago, and features the latest diagnostic and treatment equipment to provide comprehensive emergency care.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills are needed to maintain an open network of communication among staff members, care center and sector leadership, and other health care professionals and departments.
Specialty certifications preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois
- Basic Life Support certification through The American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of nursing experience in Emergency Medicine
- Adult Emergency Department experience
- Specialty certifications including ACLS and / or TNCC
- RN experience in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital
- Charge Nurse Experience
- Two or more years of nursing management / leadership experience
