If so, our team is interested in you! 21st Amendment Brewery located in San Leandro, CA is now hiring PM Packaging shift supervisors.
These positions report to the Packaging Manager and will oversee the am / pm Packaging teams.
Managerial Tasks
Leadership :
- Sets a positive example in all aspects of the business One Team.

- Enables the team to achieve personal and professional goals by always driving toward improvement.
- Embraces brewery-wide Continuous Improvement (CI) programs and ensures adherence within the Packaging department through staff involvement, regularly scheduled audits, and scheduled maintenance and reports.
Management :
- Helps managers with SOP updates.
- Ensures staff are effectively executing their job duties and operating equipment according to SOPs by providing training and follow up to ensure accountability.
- Submits documentation of completed training programs to Human Resources.
- Ensures that hiring practices are followed, resulting in the most highly skilled and culture compatible staff.
Position Specific Tasks
Packaging Operations :
- Organizes team members to execute daily packaging schedules (positions, breaks, lunches)
- Ensures safe, clean, and organized work areas.
- Works alongside packaging team members on the floor at least 80% of the time, ensuring all SOPs / checklists are being followed.
- Ensures that canning and kegging lines are up and running at the scheduled start time.
- Ensures canning / keg preflight checklists are met
- Creates Production Orders
- Supervises packaging technicians on proper line changeovers.
- Performs Filler and Seamer changeovers.
- Ensures quality standards are met for the following tasks :
- Gas levels of beer in BBVs are in spec before packaging according to SOPs. (Bright Tank, Can, keg)
- Scheduled CIP and SIP of packaging lines.
- All packaging QA checks, including seam checks (before every run), can codes, carrier and tray alignments,
- Scheduled daily ATP testing of seamer.
- Troubleshoots all packaging equipment when required.
- If pasteurization required, ensures proper recipe is selected
- Prepares loggers for QA lab before mass producing
- Follows pasteurization SOP’s
- Assists with recipe adjustments or creations
Reporting :
- Ensures all QA / QC samples are collected and all forms are submitted on a daily basis.
- Ensures daily canning and racking logs are complete and accurate.
- Ensures titrations and adjustments of chemical baths are performed per QA / QC mandates.
- Maintains logs for testing equipment.
- Communicates with the Maintenance department on Packaging Line needs.
Inventory :
- Participates in or delegates monthly inventory counts of all packaging materials and reconciles any variances.
- Participates in or delegates yearly inventory counts of all packaging materials and reconciles any variances.
Other Duties :
- Working in partnership with the Packaging Manager to lead a team of 4+ packaging operators and temporary workers.
- Constant on the floor coordination with leads and pack team members.
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Ensure a clean, sanitary, and showcase brewery
- Schedule and perform setup, startup, shutdown, cleaning, and changeovers
- Perform in a variety of capacities, specifically packaging equipment operation and mechanical troubleshooting while maintaining quality standards
- Working with finished beer in an aseptic manner
- Assist maintenance with PMs and overhauls as needed
- Communicate effectively with team members, conditions of operations, productivity, safety, quality of packages, etc
- Excitement to meet growing demands and perform other duties as needed and assigned

Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years experience with high speed beverage production / packaging
- Flexibility and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
- Pallet jack and forklift operating experience in manufacturing environment
- Ability to express oneself in both written and verbal communication
- Proficient with MS office suite and Google Workforce software; primarily excel, and word
- A no job is too small attitude
- Ability to take direction well and follow written SOPs
- Previous experience with scheduling, planning, staffing, and following production schedules

- Leadership experience in high-speed packaging of beer or other beverages
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the willingness to break down obstacles and create solutions to meet quality and production goals
- Extraordinary communication skills
Working conditions :
- Capable of standing / walking for 10 +hour shifts and ability to perform physically demanding work
- Ability to lift 51 pounds
- Capable of safe and competent work on and around potentially hazardous machinery, equipment, chemicals and systems
- Able to work in an environment with high noise level
- May need to come in on weekends and / or weeknights
