Job Title : Sterile Processing Technician - Evenings Job Specialty : Sterile Processing Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Evening (3 : 00 PM - 11 : 30 PM) Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : 400 hours of previous sterile processing experience required License : Not specified Certifications : Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician required upon hire Must-Have : High School Diploma or GED- Understanding of identification and handling requirements for surgical instruments, medical supplies, and equipment- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) for communication with medical staff- Basic computer skills Job Description : Provide key services to ensure equipment consistently meets high quality and safety standards.
- Receive and process incoming supplies and equipment, performing cleaning and sterilizing duties.- Handle, process, and store crucial medical instruments.
- Monitor sterilizer equipment for performance specifications, including inspection and documentation.- Collect, receive, clean, disinfect, and decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to policies and standards.
- Prioritize workload to meet the needs of various hospital units.- Disassemble and inspect instruments, select appropriate cleaning tools, and ensure cleanliness of equipment.
- Operate washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner for mechanical decontamination.- Inspect and ensure surgical instruments and medical equipment are in proper working order.
- Assemble, wrap, or containerize instruments and equipment as needed.- Communicate effectively with operating room staff to prioritize workload.
- Select appropriate mode of sterilization and handle storage of sterilized items correctly.- Conduct mechanical, biological, and chemical monitoring of sterilizers as per quality assurance standards.
- Participate in departmental activities, including educational programs and meetings.- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Distribute supplies and equipment to various hospital units in a timely manner.- Perform other duties as assigned, aligned with policies and standards.
