This position will keep accurate attendance records and assists the assistant principal with the maintenance of disciplinary records.
The secretary types all correspondence and maintains appropriate files for the Assistant Principal.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Keep records of student attendance and tardy information.
- Maintain student disciplinary records.
- Call parents of students who are absent.
- Gather assignments for students assigned to in-building detention.
- Provide assistance to students, teachers, and parents.
- Type all correspondence and maintain appropriate files for the Assistant Principal.
- Provide information to parents and others over the telephone concerning student-related problems and needs.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum : High school diploma
Preferred : Business school / associates degree; prior clerical experience; prior use of office equipment; knowledge of Microsoft office software.

- Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this position an employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear;
- The employee is frequently required to move about and use fingers and controls; The employee is occasionally required to reach, bend, and lift and carry up to ten pounds;
Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required.
Attendance : Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Conditions and Environment : The work environment is frequently chaotic with many students and staff members present and speaking simultaneously.
