Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of Cardiology

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for full-time tenure-track or clinical-track faculty position in veterinary cardiology.

The successful applicant will be appointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The Cardiology Service has an ACVIM-approved residency program.

Responsibilities include clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents; clinical service in cardiology;

development of a basic science or clinical research program commensurate with effort allocation; participation in continuing education at the local and national levels.

The University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Center is a fully equipped facility that includes digital radiography, ultrasound, MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, intraoperative fluoroscopy, a linear accelerator, video endoscopy, physical therapy and rehabilitation equipment, and DEXA scanning.

The Cardiology Service has dedicated technical support staff, designated examination and procedure rooms, echocardiography, digital ECG, digital Holter units, and an Interventional Suite / Catheter Laboratory for minimally invasive procedures.

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences includes more than 50 tenure and clinical-track faculty, including board-certified specialists in radiology, anesthesiology, surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, cardiology, behavior, dermatology, dentistry, nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, neurology, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and avian and zoological medicine.

Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee flagship campus and is a beautiful and friendly place to live. It is a short drive from the Great Smoky Mountains, as well as a number of dog-friendly state parks and recreation areas.

Outdoor recreational opportunities include hiking, biking, trail running, climbing and water sports. Knoxville has a vibrant cultural downtown with excellent restaurants;

bustling farmers’ markets; live music of all genres, ballet, and theater; frequent art and cultural festivals; and men’s and women’s sporting events.

Requirements include a DVM or equivalent degree, completion of a formal residency training program in cardiology, and certification or eligibility for certification by the American or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology).

Responsibilities will be shared with another ACVIM boarded cardiologist.
