PRIMARY PURPOSE :
- Responsible for the maintaining and repairing plumbing equipment in the district as required to meet department criteria
- Will report to the Master Plumber in order to satisfy 4 year apprentice license requirement in order to qualify for the Journeyman's licensure
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited institution preferred
- Must have valid Texas driver's license
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record that meets the standards of the District's insurance policy
- Ability to take direction and learn the trade
- Good interpersonal communication skill
- Ability to diagnose and resolve sewer-related problems
- Knowledge of plumbing codes and building codes preferred
- Apprentice Plumbing License preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES :
- Follow all AISD safety procedures as covered in AISD safety handbook
- Abide by all AISD policies and procedures as outlined in AISD auxiliary employee handbook
- Assume responsibility for safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle, tools and equipment
- Assume responsibility for personal time card
- Assume responsibility for maintenance and repair of all AISD physical facilities and structures, programmed maintenance procedures, and assignments
- Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
- Apply all codes to installations, repair, and maintenance
- Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned supported graded
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environment protection requirements
- Position may require overtime, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities

- Tools / Equipment Used : Plumbing tools and equipment including pipe bender, propane torch; hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including forklift, trencher, backhoe; light truck or van
- Posture : Frequent standing, kneeling / squatting, bending / stooping, pushing / pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
- Motion : Frequent walking, climbing stairs / ladders / scaffolding, grasping / squeezing, wrist flexion / extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
- Lifting : Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
- Environment : Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards;
- work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours;
occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel. . Be able to work off scaffolding and a minimum of 40-foot ladder.
Will work in, under, around, and outside of all AISD facilities, will be exposed to all outside conditions found in this region of Texas, exposure to dust, chemicals, and other materials and slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
Working in trenches may be required.
