Job Summary

The Red Hat Accounting team is looking for a Project Accountant to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will assist with both month-end accounting and the day-to-day management of financial operations for our North America (NA) Services team.

You will report directly to the manager of project accounting

and work cross-functionally with the NA Services, Accounting, Finance, Sales and Sales Operations, Legal, and Order Management teams.

As a Project Accountant, you’ll need to have excellent communication and organization skills and attention to detail. You’ll collaborate across Red Hat, which will be key to your success.

You’ll also need to be able to analyze data and effectively present findings and business insights to your stakeholders.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Support the daily financial operations for the NA Services team by interacting with regional service managers, project managers, and consultants
• Set up and manage projects within the Project Accounting module
• Prepare monthly journal entries, customer invoices, and account reconciliations
• Perform analyses
• Resolve customer issues
• Provide booking guidance to our order entry and credit teams
• Complete monthly and quarterly financial close activities
• Participate in testing activities related to the ASC 606

Required Skills

• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience with a major enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package
• Understanding of the ASC 606 with the ability to communicate Red Hat’s approach to our stakeholders
• Highly motivated with good creative problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment under deadline pressure
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; record of working with diverse internal and external groups in the field of finance, legal, sales, operations, senior management, etc.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment and take on new challenges as they arise

The following are considered a plus :

• Experience with Oracle ERP
• Experience working as a project accountant in any industry
• Bachelor's degree in accounting

The salary range for this position is $26.13 - $40.49. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity.

Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and / or equity.

For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
