Job Details
- The Mammography technologist administers ionizing radiation when performing screening and / or diagnostic mammograms according to established protocols.
- The Mammography technologist demonstrates an understanding of breast anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology as they relate to the procedure.
- Maintains a high degree of accuracy in breast positioning, exposure techniques, and subsequent evaluation of imaging parameters to optimize patient imaging and care while adhering to radiation protection and safety standards.
- The mammography technologist integrates technical skills, patient interaction, and care to obtain viable diagnostic information as ordered by the physician.
- The technologist utilizes independent professional judgment and critical thinking to obtain the resultant diagnostic information when possible and seeks direction from a MQSA qualified interpreting physician or lawful institutional policies (or standards of care) to continue or discontinue the exam.
- The Mammography technologist remains sensitive to the physical, cultural and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills in a non-judgmental and nondiscriminatory manner.
- The Mammography technologist participates in quality improvement processes and continually assesses their professional performance.
- Comprehends the complexities of appropriate state and federal regulations and have knowledge of the quality control and quality assurance requirements for mammography.

- Certification and Licensure : BLS Certification - RT (Required) or RT (R) (M)
