GENERAL SUMMARY :
Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses ultrasound technology and techniques to acquire images and assist in the diagnosis of gynecological and fetal abnormalities.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Performs ultrasound procedures to include obstetrical, gynecological, interventional, and vascular studies related to Obstetrics.
3. *Uses sterile techniques, performs sterilization of instruments and maintains documentation of instrument sterilization.
4. *Optimally demonstrates patient / fetal anatomy through proper positioning and transducer selection.
5. *Competently operates all ultrasound equipment and support systems.
6. *Utilizes patient files to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies; maintains patient confidentiality.
7. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages.
8. *Coordinates exams within the office and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with coworkers, patients, and families to assure quality patient care.
9. *Cleans disinfects, and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies Office Manager of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
10. *Keeps work area properly supplied.
11. *Performs the day-to-day functioning of the office, including answering phones, patient scheduling, charge entry and computer entry.
12. Responsible for mentoring of students
13. Maintains a file of interesting cases for conference / teaching purposes.
14. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
15. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
16. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Graduation of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program required. Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification with certification in abdomen required within three months of hire date.
ARDMS certification in OB / GYN preferred. Must be able to follow American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) guidelines to ensure continued office certification.
Two years of clinical abdomen and OB / GYN ultrasound experience preferred.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS :
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
