Providence Staffing's client is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician in Montgomery, AL. The Pharmacy Technician assists in managing the medication process, from prescription intake to dispensing, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and excellent patient care.
The schedule for this position is Monday- Friday from 7 : 30am- 5 : 00pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Pharmaceutical Dispensing :
- Fill and refill outpatient prescriptions.
- Enter medication orders into databases, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
Prescription Management :
- Interpret prescriptions for content, dosage, and appropriateness, ensuring compliance with medical guidelines.
- Calculate medication quantities accurately for prescriptions and refills.
- Preparation and Packaging :
- Prepare, package, and label medications, including extemporaneous compounds, adhering to strict quality controls.
- Manage the storage and filing of completed prescriptions.
- Medication Dispensing :
- Dispense medications and supplies directly to patients and clinics, ensuring patient safety and service quality.
- Patient and Healthcare Provider Support :
- Provide drug interaction monitoring, adverse reaction reporting, and consultation services.
- Communicate effectively with prescribers and patients about medication use and safety.
- Counsel patients on medication management as per pharmacy guidelines.
- Quality Improvement :
- Conduct drug storage inspections and manage inventory to optimize stock levels and minimize waste.
- Generate reports on pharmacy operations, highlighting errors and areas for improvement.
- Compliance and Training :
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, and CPGs.
- Complete all required training, including electronic medical records and pharmacy operation systems.
Educational and Qualification Requirements :
- Education :
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program (ASHP, military, or equivalent).
- Experience :
- At least one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Certifications :
- National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Skills :
- Proficiency in computer operations, including MS Office and pharmacy-related databases.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups, including challenging patient interactions.
- Ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Familiarity with DoD, Federal, and State healthcare systems (e.g., TRICARE, Medicare, Medicaid).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Compensation :
The pay range for this position is $19.50 -$21.00 per hour based on experience.
