Job Description and Duties

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Under the direction of the Assistant Correctional Food Manager, DOC, (ACFM) the Supervising Correctional Cook, DOC supervises and directs staff assigned to the different areas of Food Service in the ordering, receiving, storage, preparation, prethermalization and service of food for inmate consumption.

Responsible to order food and supplies for the Central and Facility Kitchens. Coordinates activities with other Supervising Correctional Cooks.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing / evaluation thereafter.
