The primary role of the Associate Account Manager is to achieve a well-rounded foundation within the employee benefits consulting practice by being trained and skilled in the following areas : Account Management, Client Service and Underwriting.
The Associate Account Manager will be developed by a mentorship program supported by MMA East's senior team of Underwriters, Account Managers and Client Service team.
The Associate Account Manager will be responsible for understanding with the ability to execute on the full life cycle of the employee benefits consulting practice at a tactical and strategic level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited, to the following :
Account Management
- Partner with Account Management teams to establish and cultivate relationships within client organizations to build high levels of client satisfaction while executing proper client agreements;
- Develop, implement and manage of client specific project plans;
- Initiate and prepare strategic account planning meetings and annual executive summits;
- Assist with the creation of contract terms, rates, plans, schedules, resources, involvement, and service expectations;
- Research new sources of revenue within specific client services and products;
- Assist with the creation of revenue forecasts to sales management;
- Research and identify factors that influence business performance and provide findings that will improve profitability and enhance revenue for MMA East;
- Develop and maintain skills, knowledge and proficiencies required to be effective in sales techniques and in support of client strategies, goals and objectives;
- Continually build knowledge and skills to keep pace with market trends.
Client Services
- Responsible for plan audits, including review of contracts, amendments and other documents, to ensurepliance and appropriate documentation is aligned with plan design;
- Review andpletepliance and renewal checklists for assigned clients;
- Participate in the benchmarking analysis for assigned clients;
- Create and maintain paper and online files for all clients;
- Research client plan documents to assist in answering client questions;
- Maintain and develop newsletters, benefit summaries and highlight brochures for clients;
- Accountable for keeping all aspects of CRM (Client Relationship Management system);
- Participate in special projects, such as dependent eligibility audits and benefit statements;
- Support the needs generated by thepliance Department such as, but not limited to, review form 5500 data requests;
- Responsible for filing stop loss claims.
Underwriting
- Responsible for general underwriting, financial, and risk analysis support for internal sales teams and their respective consulting clients;
- Prepare plan design and financial analysis for existing and prospective customers by utilizing modeling tools and various reporting techniques;
- Participate with clients' benefits marketing process, such as : data acquisition, request for proposal (RFP) preparation, vendor question resolution, proposal review and analysis, and client exhibit and presentation preparation;
- Perform the analysis and negotiation of rates and plan options with insurers on behalf of clients to secure optimal, costpetitive benefit plans;
- Validate renewals and proposals for accuracy;
- Assist with the definition of clients' employee contribution modeling and strategies;
- Participate in the evaluation, determination and rmendation of alternative coverage, pricing options, and plan design changes based on economic analysis of available plan elements related to client goals;
- Perform various reporting for plan change evaluations, budget and reserve calculations, and other on-going reviews;
- Maintain quality service standards and organization to assure timely service to Trion team;
- Research and remain abreast of the dynamic,petitive insurance environment, new andplex insurance projects, appropriate underwriting techniques and constantly changing legislation thaterns business.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management or Actuarial Sciences is required or the equivalent work experience;
- Prior underwriting or client service internship experience in the Benefits Brokerage, Consulting, or Insurance industry is required;
- Active Life and Health License preferred, or must obtain license within first 90 days of employment;
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Excel is required ( ability to perform pivot tables, macros, and intermediate formulas);
- Effective analytical, math and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, strong decision making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellentmunication skills;
- Must be organized, detail oriented and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectives.

- Must haveputer skills proficiency and experience with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
- Proficiency in use of PC such as keyboard skills and electronic folder / file organization and management;
- Aptitude for learning internal systems, applications and internal work flow of the department;
- Must be able to effectively interact with people at all levels inside and outside of thepany.
