Description
A Brief Overview
Assists in safe, efficient, endoscopic procedures that physicians will use as a tool for making a diagnosis for Adult patients.
They will be proficient in endoscopic equipment set up and maintenance of such equipment. The technician will assist in the education of patients and families under the direction of the physician.
They will cross train to assist in procedures as needed. The technician will also be responsible for appropriate specimen distribution, procedure documentation and allocation of paperwork and billing.
What You Will Do
- Assists with endoscopic procedures and patient testing. (75%) #1, #2, #4, #5, #6, #10
- Provides accurate documentation, billing and generates reports (5%) #2, #4, #7
- Maintains equipment (10%) #2, #4, #9
- Inventories supplies (5%) #2, #4, #8
- Participate in staff development and actively pursues professional and self-development (5%) #2, #3, #6
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
- Graduate of Certified Medical Assistant Program (Preferred)
Work Experience
- Previous endoscopic experience (Preferred) and
- 2+ years experience in an Endoscopic Lab (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Must possess strong computer skills. (Required proficiency)
- Able to work independently. (Required proficiency)
- Able to troubleshoot diagnostic equipment. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Required) and
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (Preferred)
