Job Overview :

The Alternative Investment (AI) Manager co-manages the Alternative Investment Trade Desk, and reports to our Assistant Vice President of AI Trading.

The Alternative Investment Trade Desk is comprised of 15 individuals who are supporting inbound phone calls from our advisors regarding placement of Alternative Investment Trades, and supporting processing of subscriptions, redemptions, and capital calls for Alternative Investments.

The AI Trading Team supports various initiatives across the industry and within LPL to continuously improve and expand our Alternative Investment offerings.

This includes representing LPL with funds, product sponsors, transfer agents, DTCC / AIP and other industry contacts, implementing and identifying needed improvements to our processing and interfaces, creating and delivering training content for our advisors, and facilitating testing to support onboarding of new capabilities.

As a manager, you are leading the team through these items, developing talent within the organization, and establishing team level goals, and collaborating across LPL to deliver an industry leading experience in the AI Trading space.

Responsibilities :

  • The Alternative Investment Manager must have or be willing to quickly acquire a high level of knowledge regarding products supported by the Alternative Investment Trade Desk, industry standards and industry regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with management of other internal business units, software vendors and industry contacts. Maintain high-level knowledge of LPL processes and system platforms as they relate to Alternative Investment subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls.
  • Represent the Trading department in project meetings and initiatives that either directly or indirectly impact the Alternative Investment area
  • Co-manage the Alternative Investment Trading staff which includes all aspects of managing people : hiring, performance management and goal setting, setting daily and weekly team priorities, and developing talent.
  • Create performance plans, coach employees for improved performance, identify developmental needs and opportunities, recognize staff contributions, motivate employees, ensure candid and clear communications up and down the organization and complete performance and pay reviews.
  • Lead the team in delivering world class service that delights our advisors. Manage and monitor daily work flow to ensure SLAs are met.

Coach team members on service delivery. Act as a point of escalation for advisor issues. Lead team in consultative training approach to help advisors gain further value from our AI Trading platform and capabilities.

Lead the team through continuously improving our Alternative Investment experience. This includes compiling and analyzing call, transaction and NIGO trends to identify areas of opportunity.

Participating in identifying, supporting and implementing system and process initiatives that improve the Alternative Investment experience and expand our capabilities.

Provide thought leadership and support to the project request process for the Alternative Investment desk. Actively manage system defects, create suitable workarounds and ensure system issues are reported tracked and fixed in a timely manner.

Review process workflow for purpose of increasing efficiencies and identifying potential areas for improvement (i.e. ease of doing business).

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, anticipate - as well as adapt - to regulatory changes. Be able to identify how these regulatory changes will impact Alternative Investment Trade desk, and identify needed updates to processes and systems to adapt to regulatory requirements, actively review procedures, identify areas of risk and ensure proper controls are in place to mitigate risk.

Requirements :

  • 5-7 years' experience in financial services, (At least 1-2 years within trading or alternative investments)
  • 1 plus years experience in people leadership (either as direct manager, team lead or other leadership role)
  • Series 99 required or must obtain within 90 days.

Pay Range :

$71,300.00 - $118,800.00

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
