Associate Director of Student Engagement

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Engagement, the Associate Director of Student Engagement helps create a vibrant community for student engagement by providing advising support, training, and resources for student organizations, newly registered student groups, and faculty / staff advisors.

The Associate Director serves as an integral member of the Student Engagement and Student Affairs staff and supports departmental / divisional initiatives.

The Associate Director serves as the liaison to the Conference & Events Office regarding student activities and space needs.

Essential Functions :

In collaboration with the Director of Student Engagement, the Associate Director provides vision, leadership, and direction for a dynamic campus life program that supports intellectual, personal, and social development for all students.

This position is responsible for leadership development, initiating, coordinating, executing, and evaluating a full array of programs, services, and activities that engage the student body.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Train student organizations in planning and implementing student programming throughout the year.
  • Regularly update digital signs, social media accounts, and the website.
  • Oversee the operations of all clubs and organizations on campus.
  • Serve as a resource for campus activities, guiding students and staff on event planning policies, including calendar clearance, contracts, agents, budgets, and facilities.

Create and disseminate event guidelines to the campus community.

  • Coordinate and produce the campus involvement fair, Clubapalooza.
  • Support campus programs such as Purple Pride Week, Spring Week, Senior Week, Orientation, and Welcome Weekend.
  • Coordinate and develop the Curry LEAD Awards for clubs and organizations.
  • Assist in developing recognition and assessment programs for student employees.
  • Coordinate with the advisor of Student Government Association on their Elections, including nominations and marketing efforts (Fall / Spring).
  • Assist in managing the budgets of clubs and organizations, including collaboration with the Student Government advisor on oversight of SGA's budget.
  • Provide training, support, and collaboration opportunities for club advisors.
  • Develop and implement training programs for clubs and organizations in event planning, funding processes, elections, and more.
  • Supervise 2-3 student Clubs / Organization Assistants and the SGA Budget Manager who assist with club and organization management.
  • Promote and support diversity and inclusion initiatives within all OSE programs.
  • Manage and distribute the Office of Student Engagement's weekly newsletter, "The Purple Press," to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Serve as a supervisor for Orientation Coordinators and Orientation Leaders.
  • Assist with training programs and retreats for Orientation student staff.
  • Assist in organizing and running Summer Orientation and Welcome Weekend events.
  • Manage and enhance the Modern Campus Involve platform for clubs, overseeing funding requests, purchases, events, and elections.
  • Supervise evening and weekend programs and activities as required or assigned.
  • Communicate relevant college policies, procedures, and philosophies to student organizations in an advisory role, assisting groups in setting goals and objectives for each semester.
  • Evaluate the campus climate in collaboration with the Director to identify focus areas for the office.
  • Serve on the on-call point person rotation for Curry Up & Go trips, providing support and handling any issues that arise during the trip.

Additional Functions :

  • Collaborates frequently with campus partners including but not limited to : Athletics, Residence Life and Housing, Buildings and Grounds, Public Safety, Conference and Event Services staff, PAL, SAIL, and the Diversity Center.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Some nights and weekends are required.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.

Job Requirements :

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with high attention to detail.

  • Successful performance in this position demands consistently demonstrating uncompromised performance characteristics.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • A master's degree in student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Banner Operational System.
  • Knowledge of Modern Campus Involve.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 1-3 years of experience in Student Engagement or related Student Affairs setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, management, and platform skills; an ability to oversee a wide variety of activities;

attention to detail and ability to work independently.

  • Solid experience in program development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Commitment to a diverse and multicultural program in department programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong professional and ethical standards on which to serve as a role model to a diverse student constituency.
  • Ability to build working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast-paced environment, including working nights and weekends as necessary.

Salary Range :

$55,000 to $58,000 annually.
