Position Summary
The Director of Development will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of fundraising and development efforts.
This position will lead the development strategy, cultivate donor relationships, secure funding, and promote the mission of our organization.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and a passion for the arts.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and special events.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, prospects, and key stakeholders.
- Lead the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring successful outcomes and positive donor experiences.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports, ensuring compliance with all requirements and deadlines.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create compelling fundraising materials and campaigns.
- Manage and mentor development staff, providing guidance and support to achieve fundraising goals.
- Maintain accurate donor records and track fundraising progress using donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
- Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities and outcomes for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Stay current on trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising and development.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, with a track record of successful fundraising.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience overseeing staff and volunteers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A passion for the arts and commitment to the mission of the organization
- Experience with major gifts, grant writing, and event planning is essential.
