Job Details
The Director of Employee Benefits is responsible for overseeing the entire Employee Benefits (EB) team, including sales, account management, and administrative staff.
This role also provides leadership to the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) department, which manages a Dental and Vision Trust.
The Director works closely with trustees to ensure the security of rates, compliance with benefit plan provisions, and the smooth operation of all employee benefit programs.
This leadership position requires a strong focus on strategic partnerships, team development, and operational excellence to deliver exceptional service to clients.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Team Management :
Oversee the Employee Benefits team, including sales staff, account managers, and support staff.
Lead, mentor, and develop team members to ensure high performance, professional growth, and achievement of department goals.
Collaborate with sales teams to drive business growth, providing insights on market trends and client needs.
Manage staffing levels and structure to ensure optimal support and service delivery.
Third-Party Administration (TPA) Oversight :
Direct and manage the TPA department overseeing the Dental and Vision Trust.
Ensure compliance with plan provisions, rate security, and overall plan stability.
Collaborate with trustees to monitor trust financials, benefit structures, and rate strategies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and ensure adherence to all regulatory and legal requirements.
Strategic Planning & Client Relations :
Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Employee Benefits department to align with company goals.
Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and revenue growth.
Serve as a key point of contact for high-profile clients and trustees, building and maintaining strong relationships.
Lead efforts to retain and expand client portfolios through innovative benefit plan designs and service offerings.
Financial & Operational Management :
Monitor department budgets, revenue targets, and profitability, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
Implement process improvements and technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting on trust performance, benefits administration, and compliance.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Insurance, or related field.
7+ years of experience in employee benefits, insurance, or TPA management.
Proven leadership experience, managing cross-functional teams including sales and administrative staff.
Strong understanding of dental and vision benefits and experience working with trustees.
Excellent communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
Proficient in benefits administration systems, compliance, and industry regulations.
