Job Description
Performs diagnostic medical procedures producing diagnostic medical radiographs. Reports to the charge radiographers.
Responsibilities
Job Function : Performs radiographic examinations using C-arms, portable and stationary radiographic imaging equipment.
Develops film including evaluating film for technical quality. Transports patients to radiographic room; prepares and maintains room.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis. Maintains x-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order;
performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions. Maintains clean and orderly work areas.
Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, Inservice meetings and workshops.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Supports the hospital's Christian mission, philosophy, values, and goals.
Participates in and supports established Performance Improvement Program. Attends JCAHO required and hospital mandatory Inservice programs.
Observes hospital dress code and maintains appropriate conduct and appearance. Maintains confidentiality of all information regarding patients, families, physicians and hospital personnel.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
Transferring, repositioning patients. Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeing, and crouching for patient care functions. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required.
Optimal auditory acuity required. Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or needles is essential to performing assigned duties.
Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment. Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.
Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. Maybe subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential.
Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility.
Hours of duty maybe irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply.
Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
Qualifications
Education :
Associate's Degree or graduate of a radiologic technology program preferred.
Work Experience :
Must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age, limitations and planned procedures.
License & Cert :
Maintains current Registry and State License.
