SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : The Warehouse and Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing and executing all aspects of the receiving, inventorying, picking, and shipping processes.

This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and cost-effective delivery of products to customers. Collaboration with internal and external customers will be critical.

This is a hands-on supervisory role which incorporates analysis, vendor management, leadership, and continuous improvement.

REPORTING TO : Director of Supply Chain

JOB FUNCTIONS (EXECUTION)

Manages warehouse activities on-site and coordinates off-site warehousing requirements.

Trains warehouse personnel to ensure safe operations and effective, efficient shipping and receiving operations.

Properly control the inventory and prepare optimal size to be kept within organization; includes stocking level analysis, cycle counting program and other inventory control processes.

Work with the team to design and implement an optimal logistics plan to ensure most efficient within area of responsibility including efficient use of the latest inv.

control technologies such as bar coding, automated labeling, etc.

Develop, monitor, and evaluate performance standards for effectiveness and efficiency in assigned including optimal space utilization, schedule and coordination of trucking goods in and out of the warehouse.

Establish and manage relationships with off-site storage providers (as required).

Directs the scheduling of shipments and notifies concerned department or customer of arrival dates.

Oversee periodic cycle count processes for the warehouse to ensure accurate inventory.

Effectively manage the budget for all warehouse expenses.

Strictly adhere to US and International Trade Compliance laws and regulations.

Adheres to budget requirements and works toward obtaining objectives and division goals.

Responsible for warehouse forklift equipment, providing both preventive maintenance programs and all necessary repairs in coordination with the Maintenance Department.

Recommends equipment requirements and replacements in order to upgrade and maintain warehouse productivity and efficiency.

Tracks parts and documents any quality issues. Working directly with purchasing and quality engineering on quality issues and quarantining defective parts.

Initiates investigations into causes of damages or shortages in consignments or overcharges for freight or insurance.

Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, accounting, sales, planning and supply chain / purchasing.

Support new products, new / modified packaging, and planning as appropriate.

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

Manage team members responsible for inbound freight, warehousing, order fulfillment, tagging & packaging, distribution, and outbound freight to customers.

Adjusts schedules of staff as necessary to provide appropriate support in assigned areas .

Responsible for the progressive disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings; ensures a productive labor climate in the warehouse operation.

Ensures that the warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform their functions.

Ensure security of building and goods at all times.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Champion of continuous process improvement initiatives in the area of warehousing solutions.

Establishes and reports warehouse productivity KPI’s on a monthly basis including but not limited toto order fill rates, receiving rates, on-time delivery and shipping errors.

Maintain organized, safe, and orderly warehouse including physical upkeep.

  • Oversee inventory management process to meet department and company goals such as : receiving and inspecting all inventory shipments and inventory returns;
  • storing, organizing and accounting for quantity of all inventory items; oversee all activities affecting inventory (sorting, tagging, bagging, & packaging);

oversee space planning and devise storage strategies for slow-moving or obsolete inventories.

Responsible for monitoring and auditing Kanbans and ensuring that product is available when needed.

Continuously eliminates waste and implements 5S and other Lean activities.

Develop cost-saving initiatives through optimizing logistics, evaluating flow & monitoring shipping material usage.

Leads continuous improvement efforts for optimal finished goods placement and overall warehouse layout. Coordinate with facility planners regarding future space requirements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

4-year degree in business, supply chain management, logistics or industrial engineering

3-5 years’ experience in warehousing and distribution, to include 2 years supervisory experience

Advanced computer skills in MS applications

Ability to interact efficiently within MRP system (JDEdwards experience preferred)

Detail orientated and excellent analytical skills required

Bilingual English / Spanish preferred but not required

Physical Demands :

Majority of the time is divided between standing, walking and sitting, with limited time climbing, crouching, stooping, kneeling and / or crawling

The employee must be able to listen and talk effectively.

The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls

Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs. Manual lifting could reach the company maximum of 50 lbs.

Work Environment :

Occasional exposure to moving, mechanical parts.

Noise exposure is moderate.

Mental / Visual Demands :

Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are necessary to perform the job functions.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $106,800.00 - $160,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
