The duties include but are not limited to :
- Exhibits positive human relations skills, establishes objectives, and plans learning experiences.
- Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
- Provides instruction that is realistic in terms of current and future job specifications in the welding industry.
- Updates technical skills yearly as required by Business and Industry Certification.
- Develops career related instructional materials.
- Works an advisory committee and assists in the placement of students in the welding industry.
- Works with guidance personnel in the recruitment of students.
- Assists students to make informed decisions regarding their occupational goals.
- Provides related instruction with shop, laboratory, or other occupational experience that is appropriate to the career objectives of the student.
- Maintains and submits records and reports for the State Department of Education.
- Active participant in Business and Industry Certification developed by NCCER / AWS
- Maintains an environment which is conducive to learning with particular attention to safety practices, good housekeeping, and student behavior.
- Conducts follow-up on graduates from the program and maintains records of their placement in-field.
- Prepares annual budgets and orders instructional supplies and equipment according to district procedures and maintains inventory records as required.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Must have an Associate's Degree in Construction, Building Science or in a related area.
- NCCER Carpenter Level One
- The applicant must achieve the cut score established by NCCER which is included in the specifications available for each of the specific industry craft assessments.
- NCCER Commercial Carpenter
- The applicant may achieve either the cut score established by NCCER or a minimum cut score on the NCCER first and second level of their industry-specific craft assessment.
The minimum cut score will be determined from the applicant's score report that details the number of correct responses for each module assessed and specific to the industry craft assessment.
- NCCER Industrial Carpenter
- The applicant may achieve either the cut score established by NCCER or a minimum cut score on the NCCER first and second level of their industry-specific craft assessment.

Must have one of the Master Level Occupational Proficiencies below.
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Building Science or in a related area.

- Alabama Home Builder's License ( Must be active or if inactive must be in good standings with the capability of being active )
- Alabama General Contractors License ( Must be active or valid )
- NCCER ICTP
- Required state-recognized professional learning
- ALL Technical Education Program Areas : 125 hours of earned State-recognized professional learning / technical updates in area seeking certification with at least 15 hours earned at the Annual CTE Summer Conference within the valid period of the certificate held.
SALARY : As per State Matrix, depending on degree and experience.
Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI / FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
