Mainframe Programmer

Piper Companies is seeking a Mainframe Programmer to join one of the nation’s premier credit unions based in Mclean, VA .

The Mainframe Programmer will implement systems in a phased approach, from requirements analysis to testing. This position will be Hybrid in Mclean, VA!

Responsibilities of the Mainframe Programmer include :

• Lead the development of product / project requirements and success criteria through collaboration.
• Provide escalation support for troubleshooting and maintaining production infrastructure.
• Maintain proper documentation for implementation and ongoing operation / maintenance.
• Provide technical support for enterprise systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Perform routine operational tasks to verify system integrity and availability.
• Perform systems-related maintenance, including rebooting, patching, backups, and health monitoring.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain systems, application software, and infrastructure tools.
• Serve as a key team member, using existing technical knowledge and performing projects independently.
• Maintain high levels of systems and infrastructure availability.

Qualifications for the Mainframe Programmer include :

• Demonstrated understanding of Network, Compute, Storage, Cloud, and End-User technologies.
• Must have experience in Banking / Financial services
• Proficient with TSO, ISPF, SDSF, IBM Utilities, REXX, and CLIST scripting; SMP / E and non-SMP / E installations; HMC operations and IPLing systems;

DASD and Tape Management; DFSMS and SCS routines; diagnosing and troubleshooting system problems; customizing / maintaining z / OS parmlib.

• Experience with Disaster Recovery Planning / Testing; configuring / managing JES2, z / OS Parallel Sysplex, and Unix System Services.
• Experience installing / configuring / using z / OS ServerPac, CICS, DB2, CA1, FDR / ABR, BMC AMI Ops, Librarian, FileAid, Syncsort, ESP, VPS, DRS, VTAM Switch.
• Familiarity with z / OS Networking, Replication Technologies, I / O configuration, Workload Manager, Performance and Tuning, and RACF.
