They are in the market for an Investment Accounting Manager to join their holding entity, which is engaged in asset management, actuarial evaluations, accounting, and supervisory roles for its insurance subsidiaries and external partners.
Beyond these duties, the holding entity plays a crucial role in providing strategic and operational aid to its network of portfolio companies and affiliates.
This includes formulating new investment policies, managing external financial engagements and acquisitions, and aiding in actuarial modeling for managing insurer liabilities and capital.
Regarding their product offerings, the enterprise focuses primarily on traditional fixed and equity-indexed annuities, and is involved in other insurance sectors like whole life, Medicare supplement, and hospital indemnity plans.
The company's insurance branches collectively achieve over $2 billion in new premium income annually. The Role The Investment Accounting Manager will be responsible for the accurate documentation of investment transactions throughout the company’s five insurance subsidiaries.
The ideal applicant will possess deep knowledge in various alternative investment types, such as collateralized loan obligations (CLO), mortgage-backed securities (MBS), asset-backed securities (ABS), private debt investments, mortgage loans, and derivative instruments. Responsibilities :
- Prepare the investment schedules for the quarterly and annual statutory statements ( blue books ) for five insurance entities, including IMR, AVR and footnote disclosures
- Manage the monthly close process for the company’s investment portfolio
- Prepare quarterly investment income analysis
- Keep up-to-date on statutory and GAAP accounting regulations as well as NAIC guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly GAAP financial statements
- Manage the investment components of NAIC Risk Based Capital ( RBC ) reporting
- Support the annual AM Best Supplemental Rating Questionnaire process
- Support the transition to a new third-party investment accounting provider
- Prepare and review collateral reports for reinsurance counterparties
- Work closely with the Middle Office to ensure trades are recorded accurately
- Assist with interim and year-end audits
- Interact very closely with a diverse group of teammates, counterparties, and third-party vendors
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, accompanied
- Familiarity with life annual statement preparation software, such as Wings
- Knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting principles
