Job Summary / Basic Function About This Role :
The Assistant Basketball Coach assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in running certain aspects of the men’s basketball program at Lamar University.
The position requires a commitment to compliance and academics leading to the graduation of student-athletes. The position requires active involvement in the community for fundraising purposes.
What You’ll Do Position Responsibilities
Assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with on-court coaching during practice and
competition.
- Assist in a successful recruiting program and will attempt to recruit the best students as well as athletes.
- Assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in a variety of administrative duties with other
coaching duties assigned by the Head Coach.
Actively participates in fundraising and development of the program and make
himself / herself available to the news media on appropriate occasions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

- Exceptionally strong organizational skills.
- Ability to recognize and promote the best interest of the student-athletes both academically and athletically encouraging each to graduate.
- Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Texas State University System, and Lamar University rules and regulations required.
A violation of these rules and regulations can lead to disciplinary action including termination.
Physical Requirements :
This position required sitting and standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 25 pounds while performing the essential functions as described within the essential job functions.
