If you live and breathe marketing and are looking for a way to give back, we need to talk. We’re looking for flexible and versatile marketers to join our team to help lead our outreach, publicity, and social media efforts.
Marketing team members' responsibilities include creating advertising campaigns, ensuring that all marketing material is in line with our brand identity, and creating original text and video content, managing posts and responding to followers on our social channels.
To be successful in this role, you should have hands-on experience with turning creative ideas into effective projects and campaigns.
Ultimately, you will help us build and maintain a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels that will help AVFRD improve public safety and grow our volunteer membership.
As a volunteer on our marketing team, you'll partner with other passionate AVFRD members to drive both outbound and inbound marketing of public safety education, awareness of volunteerism in our community, and recruitment messaging for new volunteers.
We anticipate that members of the marketing team will spend about 10 hours a month (on a flexible, self-defined schedule) to help the Department achieve our outreach goals.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other AVFRD teams like recruitment, fundraising, and public education to ensure effective communications and content
- Develop strategies and tactics to get the word out about our mission and public safety education, and to drive qualified volunteers to our front door
- Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution
- Experiment with a variety of organic and paid acquisition channels like content creation, content curation, pay per click campaigns, event management, publicity, social media, lead generation campaigns, copywriting, performance analysis
- Design and implement social media strategy to align with business goals
- Produce valuable and engaging content for our website and social channels that attracts and educates our neighbors
- Build strategic relationships and partner with key agencies, other non-profits, and community groups
- Prepare and monitor the marketing budget on a quarterly and annual basis and allocate funds wisely
- Oversee and approve marketing material, from website banners to hard copy brochures and case studies
- Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals
- Analyze community engagement and adjust email and advertising campaigns accordingly
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A passion to serve your community and the volunteers of our Department
- Demonstrable experience in marketing together with the willingness to experiment and grow
- Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate and motivate
- Proven work experience as a Social media manager
- Hands-on experience in content management
- Excellent copywriting skillsSolid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns
- A sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and sincere communication
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
- Familiarity with web design
Organizational Summary :
Incorporated in 1945, the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (AVFRD) is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, and other all-hazard emergency responses to the citizens of Ashburn, VA, and surrounding Loudoun County.
AVFRD is a component of the Loudoun County Combined Fire-Rescue System (LC-CFRS) - a combined force of volunteer companies and career personnel.
