We are seeking a speech and language pathologist who is passionate about educational equity, driven by student and family relationships, and provides intentional support for their students.

POSITION OVERVIEW : KIPP DC is looking for a dynamic, committed and flexible speech and language pathologist to become part of a vibrant educational community.

The KIPP DC speech and language pathologist will ensure that students are progressing on their individual goals by delivering effective, high-quality, intervention.

This role is an exempt position and will report directly to the director of student support. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Service Delivery : 70% Provide speech and language therapy to special education students in groups and as individuals per their Individual Education Plans Provide intervention to students through response to intervention including small groups and classroom intervention Serve students with swallowing disorders as it relates to the school setting Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing speech or language impairments Conduct speech, language and hearing screenings Conduct speech / language evaluations Case manage students (this is especially common for speech only, ECE and Elementary students) Stakeholder Management : 20% Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech, language and literacy development Participate in Multidisciplinary team meetings and responsibilities.

Attend meetings, write progress summaries on present levels of performance, and propose IEP goals. Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments Assist in the proper referrals of students to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate Keep thorough records for each student receiving therapy or other school provided speech-language services Participate in case conferences to discuss student goals and plans School and Community Support : 10% Demonstrate strong pedagogy Implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus Exhibit positive rapport with students Create and foster a positive learning environment Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents Be available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and other events involving parents Assist in the development of curriculum standards and mapping Maintain a neat, clean classroom environment and a professional personal appearance Serve on school committees as needed Perform clerical duties, as required, relating to textbooks, instructional supplies, student reports and records, attendance reports, etc Believe deeply in the mission and values of KIPP DC REQUIREMENTS : Master’s in an accredited speech language program (Required) Commitment to working with limited access to quality educational opportunities (Required) ASHA certified or Clinical Fellow (Required) Experience / strength in phonemic awareness and reading remediation (Preferred) Experience working in a public / charter school (Preferred) Experience working in an urban school (Preferred) At least two years of experience (Preferred) Pass a criminal background check, as required by law (Required) COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS : When it comes to compensation, at KIPP DC we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive.

We look at compensation benchmarks in schools across DC. Related service provider salaries are exempt and start at $82,620 and increase with years of experience.

Please see the salary scale here . Related service providers can earn up to $4,000 in renewal add-ons to their base salary each year they return to KIPP DC.

KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical.

KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.

Currently, individuals in this role have up to 10 paid sick days, 12 paid holidays, paid Thanksgiving week break, winter break, spring break, and summer break.

This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter. All employees who use public transit through WMATA are eligible for pre-tax deductions for transportation costs.
