Systems / Network Administrator for Manufacturing Facility
Location : Charleston, SC
A leading North American company in our specific manufacturing field is seeking an experienced Systems / Network Administrator for our two plants.
This role requires an on-site presence at our manufacturing facility in Charleston, SC. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure necessary to support our manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer physical and virtual servers in the plant operations environment, which includes Windows servers running on VMWare.
- Manage the Active Directory domains and handle backup and recovery in the plant operations environment.
- Collaborate with the Information Security team to ensure the plant operations environment is safeguarded against intrusion, disruption, and data loss.
- Administer Thin Manager & Thin Client Systems, physical operator stations, and standalone PCs.
- Work closely with plant engineering and electrical teams to implement necessary changes, while adhering to the engineering and IT change management process.
- Act as a liaison with external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues, as needed.
- Assist the IT Infrastructure team in establishing network specifications and providing resources for the Service Desk to resolve network and systems-related issues.
- Mentor and train IT teammates in systems administration and troubleshooting tasks, as well as cross-train on infrastructure technologies to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Accomplish organizational goals and continuously seek opportunities to enhance the Operational Technology environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-7 years of IT experience preferred, particularly in an Industrial Manufacturing environment.
- Preferred working knowledge of plant operations communication systems (e.g., SCADA Systems, PLCs, HMI devices) and Windows desktop operating systems.
- Service Desk level 2-3 experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis.
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment with limited direction.
- Systems thinker, capable of aligning job contribution with Company strategy and objectives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to zero incident safety culture, teammate engagement, and continuous improvement, while practicing the company's Target Behaviors.
- Preferred experience with Cisco Nexus switches, Siemens Industrial network equipment, VSAN, VMWare 7, Veeam, and Fortigate firewalls.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, if necessary.
