Job Summary

Lead in and perform advanced electrical engineering services in support of either the operation and maintenance of the campus electrical distribution system or the design, construction and operation of electrical equipment, components or systems associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit.

Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with : facilities management and utilities personnel or research management and faculty;

co-workers, vendors, suppliers and contractors. This position typically will advise and counsel : management, engineering and technical personnel.

This position will supervise : electrical engineering personnel.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Supervise and participates in the design, installation and testing of electrical / electronic components

Job Duty 2 -

Develop engineering project schedules and make work assignments

Job Duty 3 -

Conduct analyses of electrical / electronic system performance

Job Duty 4 -

Develop plans and specifications for electrical systems

Job Duty 5 -

Troubleshoot electrical systems; may involve oversight of calibration and repair work

Job Duty 6 -

Prepare drawings, schematics diagrams and related documentation associated with electrical components and systems

Job Duty 7 -

Manage project engineering budgets

Job Duty 8 -

Interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues

Job Duty 9 -

Conduct project reviews for conformance to quality standards and compliance

Job Duty 10 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications

Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements)

Required Experience

Six to eight years of job related experience

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

This job requires knowledge and skill in advanced application of electrical engineering principles, processes and practices.

Additionally, skill in application of regulations, codes and safety practices associated with electrical systems; project management;

utilization of basic and advanced computer applications including those specific to areas of responsibility and communications are required.
