About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty : Cardiovascular Intensive Care Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour nights, weekends as needed, first to float Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2 years;
3-4 years of CVICU, CCU, or cardiac-specific critical care experience preferred License : Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have : Experience with temporary pacers- Experience caring for stroke patients- Highly recommended experience with devices : Impella, IABP, CRRT, Prismaflex, Ventrics, ECMO, & LVADs- Ability to titrate critical care drips, including ionotropes, vasopressors, and vasodilators Job Description : Care for mixed diagnosis medical and surgical ICU patients, including heavy cardiothoracic surgery, post-open hearts, valvular surgeries, PA catheters, and ECMO (VV & VA).
- Manage patients with multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, renal failure, heart failure, and other critical conditions.
- Interact with patients receiving complex GI surgeries, liver failure and sepsis management, and various interventions.- Work under a house supervisor at all times;
charge nurse without an assignment and supported by a resource nurse acting as a rapid response nurse.- Responsible for reading own telemetry strips.
- Follow floating requirements, prioritizing progressive care and adapting to various unit ratios (1 : 1-2 for ICU, 1 : 3 for progressive care, and 1 : 5 for Med-Surg).
- Participate in a unit / department specific orientation to acclimate to the healthcare environment.- Comply with dress code of royal blue, white, or grey scrubs as needed.
Additional Notes : The facility operates a Level 3 Trauma Center and utilizes the Cerner charting system.- Scheduling allows for block scheduling when feasible, with the option for self-scheduling on the next open schedule.
Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday work may be required based on contract needs.
