Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we make it possible for families to manage their child’s care their way. From pain management and play therapy to emotional support, our care can come to them at home.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Outreach Play Specialist to join our dynamic team to provide therapeutic and generic, play and leisure activities for babies, children and young people at Rainbows who are receiving end-of-life care, creating meaningful and enjoyable memories with them and their families to cherish.
Your main base will be Rainbows Children’s Hospice on Lark Rise in Loughborough however, for this role you will be required to travel and work in community settings such as family homes, covering the 5 counties of the East Midlands : Leicestershire, Nottingham, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
This is a part time role 22.5 hours Monday- Friday with some weekend work for events, for example, Family Fun Days and annual Christmas party.
About the role
To provide the provision of play and leisure activities, therapeutic or generic, within the home, and community environments to Babies, Children and Young People who are receiving end-of-life care from Rainbows Children’s Hospice.
Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to) :
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of activity for the Babies, Child and Young People within the home and community.
- Support family members and help create memory making activities using specialist skills.
- Advise, support and signpost family members with regards to specialist play.
- To carry out complex and highly sensitive conversations with families regarding end-of-life care, providing recommendations on suitable activities and advising on appropriate timings of these activities.

Requirements
For this role you will need to have to have the following essential criteria :
- Fully Qualified Health Play Specialist & registered with HPSET.
- Experience working with Babies, Children and / or Young People of all ages.
- Experience with Babies, Children and / or Young People with complex and / or palliative needs.
- Ability to travel around the East Midlands and get to rural locations.
