As the Procurement Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading procurement activities in your managed categories.
Stakeholders and suppliers based in the US and potentially international.
You will possess a strong procurement background, having previously covered category management, and worked with complex contract negotiation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Support all categories assigned using assessments for recommendation and decisions, including new suppliers.
Collaborate with business partners on contract negotiation strategy, lead the negotiations with vendor and manage the contract redlining process, engage other QuidelOrtho subject matter experts regarding special contract terms.
Drive saving initiatives, quantify results, and track performance to ensure savings are realized.
Lead the entire procurement effort from strategy, bidders list, proposal evaluations, supplier selection, total cost analysis and savings calculations.
Conduct spend-analytics, benchmarking, industry research, procurement strategy development, and stakeholder meetings.
Develop strategies to effectively control spend, reduce risk, and improve overall value to the organization. Strategies shall be developed using tools such as spend analytics, industry data, and other best practices.
Track projects on an ongoing basis. Ensure savings are reported in a timely fashion.
Participate or manage business reviews, underperforming suppliers, identify continuous improvement opportunities.
INTERACTIONS :
Interact with internal customers at all levels of the organization, including executives. Suppliers for contract review, negotiations, and execution of contracts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Normal office environment, moderate to heavy phones, long periods of sitting, and flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
No strenuous physical activity. General office environment. Some travel (10%) required depending on assigned project(s).
Flexible work hours required to meet project deadlines.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or related work experience within a similar role.
8 years Procurement experience, ideally with 4 years of experience in assigned categories.
Desirable certifications : ISM CPSM
Knowledge / Skills
Extensive experience with supplier management, contract negotiations, strategy development, and spend analysis.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication / presentation skills appropriate for executive level management.
Exceptional customer service skills : ability to effectively collaborate with a global cross-functional team including Legal, Finance, Compliance, etc.

Experience working in a healthcare or other regulated environment; and following procedures within a quality management system.
Experience working in a global environment; conducting business across multiple time zones and multiple cultures.

Skilled at leading multiple procurement strategies such as competitive bidding, direct negotiations, gainsharing, reverse auctions, buying consortia.
Strong organization and project management skills to keep multiple high priority projects moving to completion.
Ability to view problems from a strategic perspective and identify critical areas to dive into more detail. Quickly structure approaches to solve complex problems while making quick but educated and thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Comply with Corporate policies and procedures while acting with a sense of urgency.
Strong analytical skills : utilizing various data sets to analyze savings opportunities, vendor consolidation, spend patterns, and contract performance.
Able to identify anomalies, inconsistencies, and errors.
Ability to maintain a balanced and flexible approach and anticipate risks or downstream effects from corporate changes and change direction as necessary.
