Quality Inspector I is an intermediate-level position performing visual and dimensional in-process, final, and receiving inspections.
This level of inspection requires the fundamental understanding of GD&T, and use of basic and intermediate inspection tools, such as : calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, GO / NO GO gauges, etc.
The Quality Inspector I performs review of documentation, visual and mechanical inspection to ensure raw materials, purchased product and services, and output of our production processes comply with contract requirements.
This position performs the job function under indirect supervision of a Lead or Master Inspector and mentoring of an Inspector III.
1. Ability to perform part inspection on more intermediate designs.
2. Fundamental level of GD&T comprehension.
3. Accurately complete required time entries and applicable inspection entries on travelers, inspection reports and other documentation as required.
4. Document and report nonconforming equipment, raw material, processes, and product. Ensure proper identification and segregation of nonconforming items.
5. Perform in-process, final and receiving inspections under indirect supervision of an Inspector Lead or Master Inspector.
6. Verify the calibration status of equipment before use.
7. Support other quality activities as required.
8. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure proper care of equipment and machinery.
High school Diploma or equivalent
Certificate of completion in a GD&T / Blueprint reading program or ability to demonstrate fundamental comprehension of these in a practical examination
Minimum 2 years of experience required in setup and performing visual and dimensional (mechanical) inspection using basic and intermediate inspection tools.
Ability to speak, read and write English, including understanding of verbal / written instructions
Ability to perform intermediate shop math
Computer skills required (Windows, Microsoft Office, Verisurf, Epicor, etc.)
Experience in a machining, sheet metal / fabrication, or composite manufacturing environment is preferred
Ability to lift 35 lbs.
