Responsibilities :
- Engage in a program of clinical speech / language services which includes identification, remediation, referral, resource, and administrative services.
- Assume responsibility for the identification of children with speech and / or language impairments.
- Plan and develop interventions and designate the professional delivery system for children and youth with speech and language impairments after consultation with the appropriate administrator(s).
- Develop and adhere to a regular schedule of speech / language services in compliance with recommendations in the student’s IEP.
- Establish procedures for an appropriate and efficient record-keeping and evaluation system.
- Maintain an individual file record on every student served.
- Conduct speech-language evaluations and prepare comprehensive reports to be shared in the eligibility process.
- Develop IEP goals and objectives based on student needs.
- Update progress toward IEP goals and objectives on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare and distribute, as required by the Special Education office, narrative and / or statistical summaries of services provided during the school year.
- Establish effective working relationships through counseling and guidance of school personnel, other professionals, and parents regarding speech and language impairments.
- Assume primary responsibility for evaluating, requesting, and maintaining needed assistive technology / AAC equipment and supplies for students on your caseload.
- Train necessary staff on AT / AAC devices and equipment.
- Possibly travel between schools within the district and outside of Homer 33C.
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the principal or Director of Special Services.
Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from a program that meets ASHA certification requirements.
- One year of experience preferred.
- Current state license / PEL in speech-language pathology.
- Experience in identification, evaluation, and treatment of speech and language disorders.
