Location : Denver, CO OR REMOTE
Position Type : 12+ month contract
It is critical that this person has Asset Management experience. Front office experience highly preferred (trading, portfolio management, and / or investment risk and compliance).
The department
The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) department plays a crucial role in supporting the success of the business. We are responsible for developing and implementing a global Data Management model and Data Governance organization to support our fund management, trading, distribution, regulatory and operational areas with high quality data obtained from trusted and resilient sources.
Overview of the role
You will work in a pivotal Data Stewardship role collaborating with multiple functional groups across several lines of business, to drive the development and management of data centric strategic goals and objectives for an assigned set of data sets or functional departments.
You will be accountable for best practices in Master Data Management, prioritizing the change book of work, implementing data quality metrics and implementing the governance model plus establishing business rules and data requirements that align with each departments goal.
Duties and responsibilities
You will :
- Partner with Front Office investment teams and Technology, and collaborate with other Data Stewards to ensure data plans are linked and opportunities are prioritized to meet engagement and business plans.
- Deliver data solutions to enable insights tied to strategic projects supporting the Investment community
- Collaborate with other Data Stewards to manage and coordinate Investment Data Community activities and deliverables
- Collaborate with technology, business units and risk to drive the definition, prioritization and implementation of data initiatives
- Document and deploy consistent enterprise-wide data definitions, processes, and ownership
- Define and report on key metrics related to quality of data
- Lead efforts to ensure improving quality of data
- Create and maintain core metadata on the governance platform
- Develop effective relationships with business areas, data operations, technology and risk to oversee the delivery of data-related services to the organization
- Partner in the development of data operations standards as needed to effectively manage data across the firm
- Be the voice of data for incoming projects & changes impacting datasets
- Consult on projects and providing data training and education to business and IT
- Support a culture of analytics and using new technologies to support business expansion
- Ensure that a data-driven culture is integrated in the Investments work, strategy, and actions
- Carry out additional duties as assigned
Skills and qualifications
- Expert on Investment process-related data, with the ability to fluently communicate with investment professionals to gather requirements and solve problems
- Significant operational data management experience within the financial services sector (preferably in the buy side)
- Proven track record of execution, particularly in data-related domain
- Knowledge of data governance practices and processes
- Strong analytical background
- Experience working with business, operational data and technical teams to clearly document data governance and metadata requirements
- Experienced in data governance approaches, practices and learnings in large financial organization(s)
- Experience in contributing to business requirement documentation
- Some project management experience
- Some experience of Informatica data governance tools would be beneficial
- Bachelors degree in mathematics, business administration, statistics or computer science (or similar)
- Target hourly rate for this opportunity is $65 / hr W2*
