Software Architects

We are in search for a Software Architect - a strategic position for a dynamic individual with significant experience in agile software development, who enjoys leading teams and mentoring other software engineers, and does not want to be heads-down cutting production code all day every day.

You’re a fit for this role if you like the “fun stuff” about getting new projects started, but enjoy backing off and having a team of developers “

take it from there” for sprint-to-sprint production, while providing technical oversight and support where needed.

About the company :

This is a virtual company, giving you the opportunity to work from a location of your choosing. At this time all work will be done remotely, but there may be occasional travel to client sites in the future.

Candidates should live in the U.S. in the Eastern or Central time zone. Occasional overnight travel may be required in the future, depending upon the location of the client.

They have cracked the code on how to design and build bulletproof custom web applications, mobile apps, and cloud platforms for their clients in a reliable and predictable fashion.

Responsibilities :

• Provide engineering support to the Sales team, talking to prospects about their technical challenges
• Work with clients to understand their vision and define the architecture
• Perform research and write technical proof of concept code to determine how to accomplish application business goals. For example, researching emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning, and creating prototypes that can be used as a model for the team.
• Work closely with development teams to set the architectural foundation for new projects. This may involve writing the framework code yourself and / or pairing with one or two team members to get them smart about how the patterns are coming together.
• Mentor software engineers, providing high-level strategic guidance to help them solve technical problems and ensure technical quality by reviewing code to identify issues.

What you will bring :

The ideal candidate will have experience with some of the following technologies and techniques and should be open to working with and learning other tech stacks.

These are not all requirements, but the more boxes you check, the easier it will be to come up to speed :

• SOLID principles / standard design patterns / Gang of Four
• NETCore and RESTful APIs
• React and / or Angular
• Git and one or more branching strategies such as Git Flow
• Azure and / or AWS
• Test-driven development (TDD)
• Unit testing frameworks such as NUnit or MSTest
• JavaScript testing tools such as Jasmine and Karma
• NSubstitute, Moq or similar isolation framework
• Bitbucket Pipelines, Bamboo, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar CI / CD tools
• Microservices technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

Other desired skills and experiences :

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a similar technical degree
• 7-10 years’ experience including mentoring or leading agile Scrum development teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience interfacing with senior-level technical and business stakeholders
