Surgical Technologist - Vascular and Endovascular

Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.

As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.

Schedule : This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours, day / evening variable.

This position will also work a rotating weekends.

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for :

• Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
• Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
• Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
• Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
• Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
• Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
• Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
• Following appropriate action in emergency situations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

• Complete one of the following by hire date : Military Surgical Assistant; ORLPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; ORSurgical Technologist training
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
• Strong interest and skill set in Vascular and Endovascular surgery
• 2-3 years surgical tech experience

Preferred Qualifications :

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire

• Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
