Systems Engineering Technician

The Musco Developmental Engineering Team is currently seeking a Systems Engineering Technician to work from our Oskaloosa office.
This position will focus on development and support of controls products, including specification development, integration testing, product release activities, improving internal process and systems, Warranty training and support, and troubleshooting complex field issues.

What you will do as a Systems Engineering Technician :
Lead installations at Beta sites. Continuously exercise and monitor site(s) for issues. Document and report issues and suggest corrective actions.
Provide general performance and issues updates to R&D, CLC, and Services.
- Assist with specification of product and system level testing. Assist in system level testing. Document and report issues and suggest corrective actions.
- Provide support to Services with questions / issues, create product issue writeups to present to Systems Engineering and development teams, and coordinate issue resolution.
- Lead training for Services on new product / feature releases.
- Participate in design efforts involving interaction between multiple Musco products, e.g., alarms, notifications, firmware upgrades, and so on.
- Participate in creation of interfaces and interactions between Musco products and third-party products, e.g., ETC DMX controls.
- Assist in designing and specifying internal processes and systems needed to efficiently support Applications Eng., Production, and Services, and other internal customers.
- Support product release and launch activities being executed by PDE, Applications Eng., CLC, IT, Services, and Marketing.
Activities would include creation / modification of
- factory commissioning processes and data, and
- field commissioning processes and data.
- Assist in testing complex field issues involving interactions between multiple Musco products or between Musco products and third-party products.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you need to be successful :
- Associates degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent work experience, 5 years experience with Musco controls products preferred.
- Demonstrated PC proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to use common field troubleshooting test and measurement equipment : multi-meters, power analyzer, megger, etc.
- Have basic knowledge of networks and communications (RS485, RS232, TCP / IP, etc)
- Willingness to learn.
- Team player.
- Self-motivated.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Methodical approach to problem solving.
- Attention to accuracy and detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able / willing to deal with frequent priority changes.
- Must have personality / demeanor suitable for appropriately dealing with others, including company leadership, even under stressful circumstances.
Other Special Requirements :
- Up to 5% travel may be required. Travel includes trips to job sites, seminars, corporate and manufacturing facilities, and vendors.
- Overtime is required as needed including weekends.
