The Labor Community Foundation (The Foundation) is a 501(C)3 registered nonprofit organization, established by Labor Credit Union, that aims to cultivate creative economic solutions, and develop collaborative educational resources;

particularly, for marginalized communities, that helps prepare the individuals of our communities for success through Financial Awareness, Career Preparation, and Community Engagement.

Reporting to the Board of Governors (BoG) of The Foundation, the Executive Director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiencies of our programs, resources, volunteers, and staff.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Work collaboratively with The Foundation BoG to create and implement operational strategies that move The Foundation forward in accomplishing its Mission.
  • Oversee daily operations and activities of The Foundation, providing executive direction for, as well as and oversight and management of organization resources.

Ensures optimal use of resources to execute initiatives aligned with Foundation Mission.

Ensures compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to legal, regulatory, and accounting rules governing 501C3 organizations.

Establishes appropriate Policies and Procedures for the Foundation’s Operations and ensures compliance with Policies and Procedures throughout the operation.

Increase awareness of The Foundation by being the main spokesperson, and participating in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand of The Foundation.

Promotes The Foundation throughout the community by forming partnerships and alliances with like-minded entities, organizations, or individuals, and utilizing those partnerships to elevate The Foundation’s impact on communities.

  • Develop an actionable plan for fundraising to meet the cash flow requirements of The Foundation’s operations.
  • Identifies and works to meet any additional need of The Foundation necessary to achieve Mission objectives.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, civil works, business, or finance (or similar field of studies).

Requirements

  • Strong passion for nonprofit organizational work, and commitment to community development;
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in, leading and / or managing nonprofit organizations;
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and accounting requirements for nonprofit organizations;
  • Strong experience in public relations, communication, marketing, and fundraising;
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with an innovative approach to business planning;
  • Some travel is required.

Additional Comments

The position is listed as part-time,’ but we envision it evolving to the full-time in the future. It will be a paid position with the salary based on a percentage of the funds raised under the direction of the Executive Director.
