About The College of Natural Sciences

The UT Austin has 11 graduate programs and specializations ranked in the top 10 nationally, spanning the physical sciences, life sciences, computer science and mathematics.

Purpose

To serve as an Associate Director of Development supporting the College of Natural Sciences. Successful candidates will focus on qualifying and cultivating prospects with a capacity of $100,000+ with an emphasis on soliciting gifts of $100,000+.

Responsibilities

Maintain an understanding of the University and College of Natural Sciences’ priorities vision and mission.

Build and carry an active portfolio of 75-100 prospective donors.

Engage in qualification, strategy, development, relationship building, and closing of major gifts at $100,000+ for the College.

Consistently produce $2,500,000+ per year.

Participate in goal setting, proposal preparation, strategy development, and stewardship as required for donors in the portfolio.

Successfully and consistently deliver funding proposals to prospective and current donors.

Effectively work with, communicate with, and collaborate with faculty, academic leaders, and other development staff to develop campus-wide funding opportunities to reach campaign goals.

Use fundraising database and prospecting tools. Maintain appropriate electronic documentation on a timely basis, including engagement activities, proposal tracking, contact reports, donor strategies and forecasting.

Write timely reports, letters, proposals and gift agreements.

Work collaboratively, proactively, and in a professional, service-oriented manner with all Texas Development colleagues to advance the University’s mission.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in major gifts fundraising or related fields.

Demonstrated ability to execute successful full-cycle donor strategy.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and manage details of several concurrent projects.

Experience using reporting tools and donor management software

Highly effective communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal).

Proven project management skills.

Capable of working independently and collaborating among teams.

Ability to travel frequently to visit prospects and donors.

Ability to use discretion and maintain integrity and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with fundraising database and knowledge of prospecting tools and reports within prospective donor relations systems, such as VIP, Raiser’s Edge, or other similar CRM.

Experience working in a large-scale complex academic research university.

knowledge of UT Austin policies and procedures a plus.

Salary Range

$65,000+ depending on qualifications.

Must be able to travel frequently, overnight and weekends as necessary.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
