Essential Duties
Responsibilities
The following represents responsibilities for this position working in conjunction with the Comptroller and the Budget, Planning and Accounting Services team.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Fiscal management
Knowledge of GAAP; OMB Circulars for federal grants; and state / local grant
Reconciliations grants receivable and prepare adjusting journal entries to align allowable expenditures with approved budgets
Budget monitoring and analysis plan, organize and coordinate grant budgets from application process through final claim;
train grant managers on budget requirements; staff analysis for grant funded positions.
Time and Effort reporting and Licensure - Staffing analysis for federal and state funding and reporting; align payroll expenditures
Financial reporting
Lead OMB A-133 Single Audit; prepare federal and state schedules
Preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local grant application budgets and budget revisions. Review with grant manager inventories for all federal grants
Prepare federal and state grant claims with multiple agencies
Forecasting reports for grant spending
Indirect Cost preparation for rate and claims
Financial transaction support services
Assist grant managers on audit requirements and documentation
Assist with accounting services issues with schools, departments, administrators, and external agencies
Set up grant budgets and WUFAR account codes
Monitor expenditure reports for reasonableness and compliance
Assist with no cost extensions
Prepare journal entries and payroll adjustments for grants based on allowable expenditures and time and effort reporting
Prepare documentation on all applicable student fees before enrollment each year
Other
Budget liaison support for school buildings including monthly meeting and training
Effective communication skills that are clear and concise with both internal staff, external agencies, and parents / guardians
Develop relationships with internal managers and external agency representatives and consultants
Support to the Accounting Services Team; grant managers; external agencies
Support to auditors;
Collaborate with grant managers and external agencies
Attend professional development training to stay current on regulations
Leadership and creative thinking when problem solving; planning and providing technical assistance
Manage accounting clerks for grant claims and assist accounting clerk with donation reports
Full range knowledge of federal and state allowable costs, OMB circulars, federal and state regulations
Complete special projects as assigned.

Ability to reengineer current procedures to maximize district procedures.
Demonstrate leadership and strong interpersonal skills to district employees in various positions.
Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years accounting work experience with supervisory background.
Experience with various computer program applications and federal / state grant programs.
Experience in managing in a team environment
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, including strategic use of spreadsheets to streamline workflow.
Experience working cross-culturally and / or commitment to work toward one’s own cultural competence (i.e., valuing difference / diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one’s skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas)
