Repair and troubleshoot circuit boards and related components in a production environment for multiple wireless platforms and technologies, including radios, base station modules, antennae, optical transport, and Ethernet.
Perform routine documentation on all work and provide status updates in real time via our ERP system. Request and research components to support repair and troubleshooting as needed.
Work with peers and hardware engineering to complete daily tasks set forth by management.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Essential Job Functions :
1. Setup RF test environment using Duplexer, Directional coupler, RF power divider / combiner, RF attenuator and RF accessories.
Inspection and RF function test of wireless product using RF test equipment such as Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Power meter and Network Analyzer.
Calibrate test equipment daily.
2. Ability to troubleshoot with and without schematics and draw simple schematics from circuit boards. Repair failure boards according to the repair procedure document.
Have a thorough understanding of digital and analog circuit design and theory and be able to apply it to component-level troubleshooting.
Must be able to research component information from datasheets to gain circuit knowledge and to accurately request parts.
Must have the ability to meet production standards, metrics, schedules and demands and be able to converse with other technicians, engineering or management about repairs performed or current progress on RMA's.
Adherence to ISO processes.
3. Updating repair records correctly and repeatedly using a PC and ERP system, recording calibrated equipment IDs within test records as required.
4. Must have a high skill of reasoning with the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of practical problems.
Deal with nonverbal symbolist (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases and work with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
5. Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
- Associates Degree in electronics or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school. Certification a plus.
- At least 7 years’ experience with RF cellular equipment or a strong background of more than 6 years in equivalent electronics field repairing Telecom / Wireless, IP equipment and circuit boards.
- Experience with Wireless equipment repairs from Ericsson and Nokia preferred.
- Work with Test and other Repair Technicians, and Engineers, regarding testing processes and procedures.
- Excellent verbal, written and PC skills.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
