Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial dental assessments and evaluate patient oral health history.
- Perform professional dental cleaning procedures such as scaling, root planing, debridement, and polishing teeth.
- Apply preventive materials to teeth such as sealants and fluorides.
- Assist in the diagnosis of common oral health conditions and diseases.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Provide instructions on proper dental hygiene practices to patients.
- Maintain patient dental records with accurate and timely documentation.
- Work collaboratively with dentists and other practice staff to ensure comprehensive delivery of dental services and smooth practice operations.
- Follow all OSHA and safety policies as they relate to dental practice operations and patient care.
- Manage inventory of clinical supplies and notify management of low stock situations.
Requirements
- Must be licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Tennessee.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a dental office preferred.
- Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
- Proficiency in using dental software and computer-based patient management systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Commitment to maintaining high safety and sanitary standards.
- Enthusiasm for continual learning and improvement in dental practices.
