About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse Job Specialty : Intermediate Care Unit Job Duration : 26 weeks preferred Shift : 7P-7A, 12-hour night shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Intermediate / PCU level of care experience 1 year, or if only Med / Surg experience with some PCU 2 years.
First-time travelers must have completed at least two 13-week assignments. License : Active RN License Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS;
AACCN and CCRN preferred Must-Have : Charge experience (please indicate if the candidate has or has not worked in a CRN capacity) Job Description : Must have Neuro / Trauma experience, including stroke patients and performing Q2H neuro checks.
- Experience with high-flow O2, chest tubes, wound Vacs / VAC dressing changes, Bipap, general drain / ostomy care.- Proficient in IV starts, experience with trached patients on vents (ability to administer 100% FiO2 via suction support and silence alarms), trach care, and suctioning (RT will educate).
- Knowledge of cardiac care, including temporary pacemakers, TR bands, post femoral sheath care, cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Experience with cardiac drips (Amio set rate, Cardizem), insulin titrating.- Support on the Unit includes assistance from CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, resource nurses, RT, hospitalists, trauma surgery team, PT / OT.
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE Monitors.- Required to float to ED, ICU, CCU for intermediate assignments.
- Orientation includes general hospital orientation followed by one day on the unit.- Shift Times : 0700-1930 or 1900-0730 with every-other-weekend rotation.
- Holiday expectations vary based on unit needs. Ensure that the candidate possesses the required experience and certifications for the role, and inquire about their charge nurse experience.
