Department Information

The Georgia Tech Athletic Associate (GTAA) sponsors varsity intercollegiate athletics competition in 17 NCAA Division I sports for the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Job Summary

Provide strategic leadership and direction across Georgia Tech (GT) Athletics, with particular oversight of player management within the areas of responsibility / sport programs as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Responsible for making hiring recommendations to the Director of Athletics, setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

This position will interact on a regular basis with : Athletics executives, coaches, campus partners, external partners, player agents, and student-athletes.

This position typically will advise : Athletics executives, head coaches, assistant coaches, and other sport program personnel.

This position will supervise : Assigned Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Provide oversight, leadership, and direct support for assigned areas of responsibility and with assigned strategic projects for GT Athletics.

Job Duty 2 -

Actively participate as a strategic leader and member of the GT Athletics senior leadership team.

Job Duty 3 -

Represent Georgia Tech athletics with efforts and initiatives involving player management and key business partners, and with intercollegiate athletics organizations such as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and all other organizations involved in the governance of intercollegiate athletics and player management.

Job Duty 4 -

Direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of Georgia Tech athletics' player management process by working closely with coaches and administrators to recruit, negotiate with, and retain prospective and current Georgia Tech student-athletes that fall within the areas of responsibility / sport programs.

Job Duty 5 -

Coordinate the evaluation process with head coaches, assistant coaches, and other sport program personnel relating to the strategic assessment of student-athlete talent and providing recommendations and reports for contract review and decision making.

Job Duty 6 -

Maintain knowledge of conference, national best practices, strategies, and standards related to all units and sport programs as it relates to player management, ensuring that Georgia Tech athletics is favorably positioned to recruit competitively, including with support and partnership activations as it relates to third party sponsorships.

Job Duty 7 -

Provide advice and leadership in the development and formulation of Athletics policies and procedures as it relates to player management and ensure that player management decisions are aligned with the athletic department's overall strategy.

Job Duty 8 -

Audit and evaluate the annual player management investment and provide reports to the Georgia Tech athletics administration on the return on investment.

Job Duty 9 -

Carry out all responsibilities involved in the management of direct reports and their teams.

Job Duty 10 -

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Sports Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Six to eight years of job-related experience.

KNOWLEDGE

This job requires advanced knowledge of college athletics administration, professional sports administration, and / or player personnel management.

SKILLS

This job requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills; exceptional skills in communication, strategic planning, organization, decision-making, facilitating change, guiding and developing staff, and conflict management.
