The Department of Family Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty position at the Associate or Professor rank.

We are seeking faculty researchers to join our dynamic, nationally-recognized research program focused on advancing and applying interdisciplinary knowledge in patient-centered care, family medicine, primary care and population health, community partnered and / or participatory research, preventive and / or addiction medicine and public health.

We specifically seek scholars with expertise or experience in serving Latinx communities in the United States. Our intention is to recruit exceptional scholars whose research, teaching, and mentoring has a demonstrated focus on Latinx experiences in the United States.

Applicants must demonstrate a track record of addressing questions related to Latinx health across the life course and / or ethnic / racial equity in health and healthcare.

UCLA aims to achieve federal designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution by 2025. In preparation for this designation, the Office of the Chancellor and the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost have sponsored this search in order to recruit exceptional scholars whose teaching, scholarship and / or mentoring has strong ties to Latinx experiences in the United States.

This search is conducted in partnership with the Chicano Studies Research Center and the Department of Family Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine.

Faculty hired through this search are expected to maintain an active affiliation with the Chicano Studies Research Center and encourage the success of Latinx and first-generation scholars.

Successful clinician investigator applicants will conduct research and care for patients. Successful non-clinician candidates will be involved in teaching medical students, undergraduates, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and other research trainees.

All candidates will be expected to mentor students and clinical trainees.

Successful applicants are expected to develop a nationally recognized program and collaborate across disciplines to develop research initiatives promoting research and leadership for the Latino / a communities in the United States.

Applicants must have a track record of serving as a PI on research teams, a track record of peer-reviewed publications, a track record of extramural grant funding (e.

g. NIH or equivalent) and a research focus on primary care, community-partnered and / or participatory research, preventive and / or addiction medicine, and / or implementation science with a focus on Latino / a populations.

Required qualifications are a medical degree and / or PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant social science. Candidates who also have an MD (or equivalent) need to have board certification.

Research training via fellowship, Master's, or PhD program is highly desirable for candidates with an MD (or equivalent).

The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine at a rank appropriate to the candidate's qualifications.

The Department of Family Medicine has ongoing collaborations with the Schools of Public Health and Public Policy, the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research in the Department of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, Charles Drew University, the Los Angeles County Departments of Public Health and Health Services, and multiple partnerships with community organizations.
