Job Description
Job Summary : The Manager-Patient Care, in collaboration with senior administrative team, provides administrative, human resource, and financial management for designated area(s) that provide direct and indirect patient care for an age-specific population with a defined scope of service.
Participates in strategic planning process and aligns service goals and objectives with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Ensures areas of responsibility comply with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies, and Loma Linda University Behavioral Medical Center (LLUBMC) hospital and department policies.
Mentors and coaches charge nurses and staff in transforming culture, processes and clinical practice that meets the demands of cutting-edge health care delivery and nursing excellence.
Supports and inspires professional governance groups to attain required nursing excellence standards to achieve Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Provides leadership in the conversion of care to evidenced-based practice at the bedside with emphasis on safety initiatives, quality care, and best practices supported by innovative technology.
Participates in on call rotation for designated area(s) as necessary. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience : Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required or Associate's Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field and a Master's Degree in Nursing required.
Minimum three years nursing experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in clinical nursing, leadership, administration, education, and / or staff development required.
Knowledge and Skills : Basic knowledge of healthcare law and finance required. Broad knowledge of quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, medical staff structure, peer review and legal aspects of care.
Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position,e.
- g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others;
- provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure;
- lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone;
- think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material;
work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
Able to distinguish colors as necessary for patient care and for reading computer screens; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace;
see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications : Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association required.
