Overview
Directs the plant’s production activities on a designated shift in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the desired quality, quantity and timely production of product.
Assures quality and safety while achieving established goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Défense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
- Before start up confirm that all machinery is running properly
- Confirm that all conveyors and equipment are operating at correct speeds
- Must know all job functions in the production area
- Confirm employees are following correct operational procedures
- Train, retrain and cross train all personnel
- Maintain employee morale and work performance by coaching in a positive manner
- Anticipate potential problem areas and delegate course of action to be taken
- Complete a Food Safety Incident Report if an incident occurs
- Complete an Incident Report if an incident occurs
- Communicate to Production Shift Manager all needed employee information, lateness’s, absences and poor work performance
- Confirm readiness of area for next shift and supervisor
- Prepare, maintain and finalize all necessary paperwork for shift
- Communicate with personnel and fellow supervisors any changes in procedures, shifts, personnel, dough’s, bake times, etc.

- Maintain and adjust machinery to manager’s specification after approval
- Know where emergency STOP and START / STOP buttons are located
- Responsible for following all Lock Out / Tag Out procedures for machine when necessary
- Has a complete understanding of HACCP
- Follow all company GMP procedures
- Support without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Défense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
- Must pass forklift training
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years production / group leader experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
- Working knowledge of scheduling and production processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

Working Conditions / Environment
Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and occasionally lift while moving about the facility.
The employee is regularly exposed to fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant is loud.
Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beardnets (if facial hair exists) and steel toed / slip-resistant shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
