Position Summary
A Mechanic, or Licensed Mechanic, is responsible for investigating problems with different types of motor vehicles and making repairs accordingly.
Their duties include communicating with vehicle owners to discuss their concerns, carrying out routine maintenance procedures on motor vehicles and replacing parts on motor vehicles to promote their functionality.

- Use manual and computerized diagnostic methods to identify potential problems in a vehicle
- Explain mechanical problems and possible solutions to clients
- Plan work and testing procedures using charts, experience and other organizational methods
- Test parts and systems to ensure they work correctly
- Ensure all critical parts are checked and tested
- Perform basic automotive care, including changing oil and rotating tires
- Repair or replace worn, old or defective parts of a vehicle
- Repair or modify a vehicle to a client's specifications, if possible
- Assess vehicles and / or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues
- Liaise with clients to determine their automotive requirements and communicate vehicular defects or problems
- Provide routine inspections of vehicles and inform clients of any issues
- Prepare quotes and work estimates as requested
- Keep an accurate log of all work performed
- Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times
- Adhere to company work safety policies
- Consult the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
- Prepare work plans after fully scoping out the issues
- Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
- Inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
- Repair or replace vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts
- Conduct field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
- Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
- Complete oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
- Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
Job Requirements
- Valid Driver's License (required)
- At least 18 years old (required)
- Pass physical and drug test (required)
- 1 year of experience (preferred)
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending and a normal range of hearing and vision. May require lifting up to 50 pounds.
Requires working outdoors with light to moderate physical exertion.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS : Must be able to communicate, orally and written, in a professional manner. Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills.
Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.
