JOB SUMMARY :
The Senior Vice President of Finance (SVP Finance) for Aleut Federal will be part of The Aleut Corporation (Aleut) executive leadership team and will be engaged in short and long-term financial strategic planning for Aleut Federal.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for taking a successful company to the next level; using financial acumen and leadership skills to develop and implement the right strategies to ensure the financial success of the company.
The SVP Finance will be a strategic business partner to the executive leadership team and will help develop strategy, analyze trends and financial information, and provide financial and strategic input around critical decisions and operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
CULTURE
- Embrace the values of The Aleut Corporation (Aleut), including honesty, integrity, accountability, respect, and perseverance.
- Act as a liaison and the leading financial communication channel between Aleut Federal and our parent, Aleut.
- Interact with other business areas and coordinate with other departments on initiatives and recommendations.
TACTICAL
- Create and establish yearly and long-term financial objectives that align with the Company's plans for growth and expansion.
- Ensure the Company's financial and accounting functions and performance are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) while using industry standards and best practices.
- Lead the production of the Company's financial results to the Leadership Team regularly and ad hoc. Financial results will be presented from both a GAAP and Operational perspective.
- Lead the creation of complete, accurate, and timely analyses of budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and financial reports that will assist all levels of Executive Management at both Aleut Federal and our Parent, Aleut, in managing financial responsibilities.
- Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of financial and accounting systems, functions, processes, tools, and databases.
- Ensure the implementation and oversight of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Evaluate and improve the processes, systems, and software to provide critical financial and operational information.
- Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization's plans, operating budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Oversee cash, investments, and asset management areas.
- Serve as a critical point of contact for both external auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local taxes, including franchise, payroll, sales tax, license, and property tax.
- In conjunction with our Parent company, Aleut, we represent Aleut Federal to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors, and officials.
- In conjunction with our Parent, Aleut, review company insurance requirements for adequate coverage and best pricing including liability, workers comp, property, and benefit insurance.
STRATEGIC
- Provide insight and recommendations for the organization's short- and long-term growth plans.
- Participate in pivotal decisions relating to strategic initiatives and operational models.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decisions affecting the Company, such as potential acquisitions, business expansions, partnerships, and / or other initiatives.
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs / strategies, and regulatory action.
- Coordinate and be responsible for due diligence of potential acquisitions and / or transactions involving the Company.
- Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
- Effective problem solver; work in partnership proactively across all functions and act as a mentor on financial issues.
- Provide recommendations and oversee analysis of business initiatives, product launches, and / or new service offerings.
- Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Maintain high confidentiality, integrity, and tact in dealing with sensitive information.

- Possess strong analytical skills to review, evaluate, and synthesize information.
- Increasing successful leadership responsibility in senior financial or accounting roles to include prior experience in managing departments and cross-functional teams.
- Expert level of knowledge of GAAP Accounting.
- Expert level of DCAA and DCMA compliance requirements.
- Expert knowledge of MS Office.
- Expert knowledge of Deltek Costpoint.
- Experience working with all government contract types (Cost Plus, T&M, FFP, etc.).
- Strong business acumen, including outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and internal controls and processes.
- Experience integrating newly acquired business units into unified systems and demonstrated ability to scale overall business for anticipated growth.
- Experience working with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance-related issues.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence and ability to collaborate, mentor, and coordinate with leadership, peers, and subordinates.
- Exceptional communicator, able to deal effectively with other members of the Leadership Team and with all individuals at any level in the organization.
- Versatility to function effectively in a fast paced and ever-changing business environment.
- Excellent leadership, motivational and project management skills.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extended workdays and work weeks are expected when required.
- Ability to travel Conus and OCONUS (potential) as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in business or finance is required.
- Ten (10) years of related experience in the management of a government contracting financial environment or related experience or equivalent combination of experience, education, and / or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Experience at Alaska Native Corporations.
- Valid CPA and / or CFA registration.

- Must maintain assigned work hours in a 40+ work hour environment.
