JOB DESCRIPTION
- Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, dollies, fork trucks, cranes, hand tools, or power tools
- Perform routine maintenance such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventative maintenance actions
- Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical (not electronic) principles
- Record repairs, maintenance performed, parts or materials used and order of requisition new parts or materials, as necessary
- Communicate with coworkers and coordinate with subcontractors to manage installations or repairs
- Ensure all tools, carts, ladders, forklifts are i proper working condition, following safety guidelines including point-of-work risk assessment and lockout / tagout procedures
- Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
- Operate manual mill and engine lathe to drill, profile, shape, and chamber machine parts to dimensional specifications
- Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems
- Diagnose and repair or replace faulty parts, electrical wires, motors, controls, circuit boards, building electrical equipment and machinery
REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, carpentry, plastic or sheet metal fabrication, or associated work
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and respond promptly to emergency or critical maintenance or repair tasks
- Comprehend complex schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications
- Ability to follow electrical code manuals to perform maintenance and repair on industrial machinery and equipment
- Occasional travel
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years experience in machinery mechanic role
- Use of hand and power tools
