strokes, TIA, Seizures. Age population served is pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Impella- preferred- Would be nice to have someone experienced.
Experience : ICU experience, CRRT and IABP preferred, minimum of two years of critical care experience- Are RNs required to titrate drips : Yes - Common titratable & / or set rate drips : Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin- Charge Nurse / House Supervisor : Charge Nurse primarily without patients / House Supervisor 24 / 7- Are there nurse aids on this unit / Ratios : No- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house : Hospitalist 24 / 7, Intensivist not always- RT in ICU 24 / 7 : Not stationed in ICU but are readily available as needed- RT Equipment : BiPap, Cpap, Mechanical ventilation via Trach and ET tube, telemetry, IV pumps, sequential compression devices, specialty beds.
They are working toward having RT in ICU 24 / 7. They are located outside the ICU and are available.- Is there tele on this unit : Yes, no Monitor Tech, RNs read strips- Shifts & Scheduling : 6 : 45 am - 7 : 15 pm or 6 : 45 pm to 7 : 15 am Manager makes the schedule.
They will allow block schedule- esp. for night shift - Weekend Requirement : Every other- Fri-Sat or Sat-Mon- Holiday Requirement : Rotational- Holiday rotation with core staff.
Is there a call or standby requirement : No- Floating Requirements : Required to float to Stepdown. If not needed in Stepdown, would be required to float to Med-Surg / Telemetry or to care for Stepdown or ICU patients being boarded in the Emergency Department.
Floating to Med surg is rare. If floated, they will take a full load of 5-6 patients. Travelers float in rotation, not always the first to float.
Scrub Color / Dress Code : RN / LPN - Navy; Techs - Dark Grey / Pewter, scrubs must be solid color, no embroidery and / or patterns on scrubs.
WVU Medicine or solid color fleece zip- ups may be worn in grey, black, navy or royal blue. Solid undershirts may be worn in white, grey, or black in matching color to the scrub top.
Closed toed shoes only. No crocs.- Unit / Department specific orientation : First day general hospital orientation; Full day of Nursing Orientation for RNs / LPNs;
Computer training (1 / 2 day for C.N.As, full day for nurses); Two, 12 hour orientation shifts with a preceptor; Will receive an abbreviated Initial Skills Checklist due 90 days from start date.
Cancellation Policy : (2) Shift per 13-week assignments or greater, (1) shift per assignments less than 13 weeks Charting - 6.
